The history of the Lake Havasu
Airport might well start
with Site 6 which was on the
island and used by Army
Aviators during the Second World
War as a cross country
stop from training bases
scattered across the South West.
Robert McCulloch improved the runway, built
the
terminal you see above, bought the London Bridge,
moved it stone by stone and promoted more
than 2,700
flights from 1963 to 1978 on Lockheed
Constellations carrying 137,000 prospective
buyers to
Lake Havasu City. Many of the city's
residents initially purchased lots and the story of
Lake Havasu began. Only one of the
fleet remains and it
is at the Pima County
Air Museum located outside of Yuma |
